Before: When discussing the needs of a client we spend a great deal of time trying to understand what the client hopes to achieve with their remodel.  Depending on the budget, we supply a choice of materials, upgrades, accessories, and appliances.  We always work with the client to achieve their desires, and to keep the remodel within budget.  Previous to the remodel, two small rooms defined a small kitchen and tiny breakfast room (through the doorway), and a dining room (from camera position).  This arrangement led to three dark and cramped spaces, all of which were not useful for the homeowners.   Entertaining, and food preparation was a real challenge in these tight quarters.  In the case of the Vancura remodel, their wish list looked something like this: * brighter, larger kitchen * ample storage * wine rack * eat-in bar area to enjoy view of back yard  * updated cupboards, counters, flooring, lighting * large double pull out trash receptacles   * open flow between kitchen and dining areas * neutral but rich color palate * keep the newer existing appliances, but create a space that will allow for future updates of appliances  After: To achieve the results our clients desired, we began by removing the wall between the dining room and kitchen, raising the ceiling and installing recessed lighting.  Removal of the old tired linoleum, and installation of a beautiful classy earth toned ceramic tile created a beautiful and durable floor for the new area.  Installation of Kraftmaid's Rutherford cabinetry with a black glaze over cherrywood provided a rich classy feel to the kitchen. A lighter neutral granite countertop with dark rich flecks tie the countertop to the cabinetry and the new ceramic flooring. Our new great room was now brighter, open, rich and classy.

Before: With a single pantry, storage was very tight.  The  countertop area in the corner of the kitchen was not very useful given it's distance from the preparation areas.   Having the refrigerator tucked in the corner of the kitchen was not convenient and it created a very heavy feel to that corner of the room.  Our wine loving family had no wine storage other than the pantry, making it impossible to display, and difficult to locate their wines. After: The addition of dual 36" panties with full access pull out wooden drawers, our clients storage problems are over.  By bringing the refrigerator back into the "preparation triangle" the ease of food preparation and the balance of the kitchen appearance have improved dramatically. A new Kraftmaid wine rack and corner cupboard create more beautiful and practical storage for our wine loving family.

Before: Boxed in, dark and dreary,  the food preparation area was not a comfortable place to be.  Laid our more in an apartment style, the appliances were too close to one another, there was no out of site place for trash, and again, the storage was minimal.   After: Moving the dishwasher to the other side of the sink not only added a balance to the new area, but it allowed a large Lazy Susan to fit in it's old home.  An extra large dual binned pull out recycling/garbage panty solved the need to have that trash can sitting out in view.  Moving the refrigerator to the other side of the kitchen completed the working area so food prep is now efficient and comfortable.   The seating bar area is a big hit providing the client a place to relax and enjoy the view, or to turn around and converse with the chef!
